Trying to be Superwoman

Last week I overdid it. I’m certain I’m not the only one who has tried to do it all and be all to everyone. It’s exhausting, impossible, and definitely is not sustainable! Moms and nurses are the worst offenders, because both are always trying to take care of others and meet their needs first. I’m a mom and a nurse, so I’m probably the worst at taking care of myself!

I worked 24 hours this weekend, so I’m trying really hard to consider today my Sunday, my day of rest. It’s challenging to do when everyone else is going back to work. I find myself so inspired and motivated to join in that weekly “back to work” grind that comes around every Monday morning. There may be a bit of pressure I feel, too, in that I don’t want to fall behind or slack off (completely irrational self-inflicted pressure that doesn’t make any sense when I say it out loud or type it out!). We are all our own worst critic!

This is the start of a new week and I’m determined to start afresh. I’ve dedicated today to be my day of rest and set limits for myself on how much I can work and how much coffee I can drink. (Don’t ignore the signs that you’re tired and your body needs rest and just down more coffee…actually stop, respect your body and listen to what it’s telling you, and REST!). I’m actually taking time to read my Bible and nurture my spiritual life, limiting my social media/work/email correspondence time and limiting my coffee intake. I’ve had my one allotted cup of coffee and now I’m hydrating with lots of water. Round two will be my focus tea from teami. (Feel free to use code EL10 for 10% off your order! xx)

    it’s so hard to not over do it as moms. I never remember to take time to myself and rest!

    Great reminder that we need to take care of ourselves too! It’s good to hustle and work hard but we also need rest! Thanks for sharing!

    I struggle with this so much! Exhaustion has gotten the best of me, too, and I had to call out sick from work today! I needed this day to feel better and relax.

    Yes over do we do! Question how do you like the tea? I love Teami (doing round 2 of the Detox teas) I saw this but wanted to see a “Real” person give their opinion on it who has tried it before I go and order it. Get that rest girl! ( ok more like try too)

      Haha yes, try is the key word there! ;). I like it! It kinda tastes like rooibos tea to me. I prefer not to steep it too long & sometimes I add honey to it. But I’m very pleased with it. It helps me when I hit my afternoon wall. Coffee just gives me jitters at that point of the day and I find it doesn’t even help give me the boost I’m looking for! So yes! Love it! I need to try the detox tea next!

    You definitely need to take a day for yourself!! I am being intentional with my health by going on walks daily and meeting up with a friend for a couple of workouts this week! Oh and ps isn’t that tea amazing?!

    Yes, we certainly do over do it and not listen to our bodies cues of being tired and exhausted. That tea is great! I always use it as my 2nd energy boost when I’m trying to avoid coffee.
