Perfect, glowing, radiant skin…the goal of women everywhere, am I right?! I probably shouldn’t say ‘perfect,’ because that isn’t possible or attainable! But we all seem to strive for it anyway, don’t we?! 😉
I’ve not always had the best skin. I didn’t have horrible acne, but I did break out frequently and I relied on makeup to cover any blemishes I had and smooth my complexion (hello redness on my cheeks/around my nose!). Over the years I learned that a good diet and lots of water are key to good skin. I balanced my hormones and watched what I ate and drank plenty of water (all easier said than done!). But still, my skin was lacking and I felt like I had to wear makeup to fake great skin. (This was especially true postpartum. Those hormones fluctuations do a number on your skin & hair!!)
**Condensed version 😉 –> Beautycounter Story
Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including, but not limited to, asthma, learning disabilities, cancer and infertility) are on the rise, and due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals — whether it’s in the shower, on our commute, while we eat lunch at a local restaurant, or when we clean our kitchens at home.
There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today. Many don’t have any safety data. This is particularly true of those used in the skin care and beauty industry. Only about 10% of the 10,000 chemicals commonly found in personal care products have safety data. What’s worse is the FDA allows companies to use chemicals known to be extremely harmful (lead, formaldehyde, and pthalates) in the products we put on our bodies and our kids every single day, day after day.
It’s time for a change!
The United States has not passed a significant federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938. The E.U. has spent the last two decades banning or restricting more than 1,300 ingredients; the U.S. has banned only 11 to date.
We deserve better and we’re doing something about it.
At Beautycounter, we’ve banned more than 1,500 ingredients setting a new health and safety standard — all while ensuring our products perform, and that they’re as indulgent as any luxe shampoo, lipstick or oil on the market. It’s not easy work, but it’s well worth it. This is about progress — not perfection. Because every little bit counts.
I started out with the Essential Nourishing Collection and used No.2 Face Plumping Oil. The results were amazing. Not only did the products feel great on my skin, but before I knew it, I felt more confident being makeup-less and I noticed a smother, more even complexion and noticeably fewer breakouts! I wish I had a before picture (do I though?? ha ha), but it’s pretty amazing how using Beautycounter products has helped my skin. I think it must be like how eating healthy food makes you feel better and cleaner — same goes for your skin! Apply healthy food to it and it will reward you!
I’ve since moved toward using the Countertime Rejuvenating Collection, and I LOVE it. Fights the signs of aging and helps you age gracefully! I’m particularly fond of the Rejuvenating Day Cream. So luxurious and I can tell a big difference with my skin tone and elasticity! Another favorite of mine is the Rejuvenating Radiance Serum. Seriously magic in a bottle. Worth every single penny.
The makeup is on point, as well. It’s pretty much all I use! One of my absolute favorite products we sell is the Tint Skin Foundation. Oh my word. Completely surprised me! I’ve never been a fan of liquid foundation. This blends beautifully and acts like a second skin. Gives you more coverage than a tinted moisturizer but looks so natural and blends like mineral powder makeup. This is basically another one of my secret weapons to perfect, glowing skin. My second favorite cosmetic product is our Touchup Skin Concealer Pen. I use the shade ‘Light’ year round and it’s amazing. Brightens my eyes and hides those dark circles. It also doesn’t settle into the creases under and around my eyes. I’ve been so impressed with it from day one. First product I ordered, actually! Pro tip: I also use it on my lids as a base for my eyeshadow! Unless I’m not wearing any makeup, I don’t go a day without using both of these products. These two are GOLD.

I do want to quickly point out that these products typically last 3-4 months, so if you break down the daily cost, that’s anywhere from $1.67 a day to $2.63 a day! You really don’t need much of the product, either; a little goes a long way! Also, I’ve found that using a drop of face oil in my moisturizer helps my dry skin a lot and it extends the life of my moisturizer; this prevents me from using all of my moisturizer in like two weeks!
If this really hits home with you, I suggest joining as a consultant. Join the movement that is sweeping the nation and pushing for change in the industry. We are not salespeople, we are educators. Our founder, Gregg Renfrew, believes the Beautycounter story is best told person to person. This is why she structured the company as a direct retail brand.
