I’ve shared before how important it is to feel pretty postpartum. It’s something I feel very strongly about. No, we aren’t going to be able to feel like a million bucks or like we’re in the best shape of our life, but it IS important to do little things to make you feel less frumpy and more beautiful. You DID just give birth, so you deserve to feel pretty! 😉
I’m hitting this topic again because it’s not something I anticipated making a big impact on my postpartum experience. And oh how wrong I was! I skimped and bought cheap nursing bras at Target. They were comfy, but not very sexy… and over a year later, they are already falling apart. I’ve also lived in nursing tanks and one of them is literally unraveling!
Let’s face it. No one loves to go bra shopping. Why? Because it can be a pain to not only find the right fit and style, but they are just so dang expensive! It can be hard to bring yourself to buy something that no one but you and your husband will see. I get it. But hear me out. Even if no one but you sees your bra and underwear after you put it on in the morning, it will make a profound difference on your day! Anyone else have those few “special” pieces they wear when it’s a special occasion? I totally wear different underwear and bras depending on the occasion. It’s a confidence booster & I think that if you feel pretty and beautiful, you will look even more beautiful on the outside!
Looking back on my pregnancy and decisions that I made, I would only change a few things, and buying a couple pretty nursing bras would definitely be one of them. Yes, it is an investment, but it is so worth it. Postpartum hormones mess with your brain something fierce, and having a beautiful lace bra on can literally be the one thing that prevents you from having a nervous meltdown one day!
I was so thrilled to review this gorgeous bra from The Dairy Fairy. The lace on this Ayla All in One Nursing and Pumping Bra is just beautiful. It’s hard to find lace bras that are comfortable and not insanely itchy; this is so soft & comfortable. Another feature I love is how it grows (and shrinks!) with you throughout your whole breastfeeding journey. You definitely want a bra that will be able to accommodate the many changes your breasts go through postpartum and beyond. The hands-free pumping feature is amazing. I remember in the early days with Charley, he would only nurse on one side since he’d get enough milk from that side. So I would have to go back and pump the other side later (to store up some milk for our freezer stash and also just for comfort!). This bra would have helped tremendously – I could have nursed him and also pumped the other side at the same time! It definitely would have solved the “I don’t have enough hands!” dilemma!
